Contract Counsel Becomes Lumen Legal to Address Changing Legal Services Industry Paradigm

Michigan-based company opens offices in Chennai, India and additional U.S. cities.

JANUARY, 2006 – David Galbenski, Esq., CEO, Contract Counsel announced that the company is changing its name to Lumen Legal (effective February 9, 2006) with expanded staffing and litigation support services aimed at the evolving needs of corporate legal departments and the law firms that serve them. A new office in Chennai, India, as well as additional offices in major U.S. law market cities coast-to-coast, has been established by the company.

Lumen Legal places legal professionals on a contract staffing and direct hire basis, and also provides complete document review services for large-scale litigation cases. Using their proprietary database of several hundred thousand attorneys and paralegals, and their legal service partners in India, Lumen Legal integrates a combination of domestic and offshore resources to reduce costs of the discovery / document review process, which can amount to tens or even hundreds of thousands of work hours.

“We go beyond standard litigation-support software and services that automate the processing, organization and indexing of documents. We are putting best-practice methods together with global resources to create and manage complete discovery solutions, up to and including subjective document review,” says David Galbenski, CEO. “It's really about putting the right person, in the right job, at the right place and time, and at the right price.”

COO Marc Blessing adds: “Corporate counsel are facing some tough challenges with higher department workloads confronting tighter and tighter budgets. Consequently, law firms are being pushed to reduce fees within a very difficult recruitment and retention environment.  This is the business landscape that creates our opportunity.”
