Lumen Legal grows with demand
September 22nd, 2007 - By JOSEPH SZCZESNY Of The Oakland Press. Lumen Legal has announced it is continuing to expand beyond its original base in Oakland County. The Royal Oak- based legal services and temporary staffing company for paralegals and lawyers has added offices in Chicago, Kansas City and Washington, D.C., to meet increased demand for its services, the com- pany announced Friday. “Our clients include AmLaw 100 law firms and Fortune 100 compa- nies who have nationwide needs,” said David Galbenski, Lumen Legal president and chief executive officer. “We now have offices in 18 cit- ies and have originated document review projects in more than 20 states, as well as Canada.” Kansas City is a relatively small market, but Lumen’s office there has grown quickly, said Lumen spokes- man David Schmidt. The firm’s bread and butter services include assembling, deploying and managing combinations of legal pro- fessionals to meet defined cost goals for complete document-processing proj- ects from the automation of document indexing up to document review. The document processing in com- plex litigation can require as much as 20,000 to 30,000 hours of document review, preparation and copying, the spokesman said. The firm has now built up a data base that includes the names of more than 200,000 lawyers and other self-employed contractors. |
